School Expectations

The Adelaide Secondary School of English has a range of policies and procedures to meet the diverse needs of its student population.

The following policies outline the school's expectations of it's students:

 

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT POLICY

The school has developed a policy and implemented practices in line with the Department of Education and Children Services (DECS)

  • EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENTS
  • All students at the Adelaide Secondary School of English are expected to:
  • follow school rules
  • attend school regularly
  • arrive punctually for classes
  • follow classroom rules
  • complete homework
  • respect the school environment and the well being of their fellow students
  • participate in all class activities including camps and excursions
  • wear the school uniform
  • use diaries to develop organisation skills and for communication between school and parent/caregiver.
  • keep the school free from rubbish and vandalism.
  • stay within the approved boundaries of the school
  • report to front office for permission if leaving school grounds or arriving late
  • behave in a safe and courteous manner
  • follow the school harassment policy
  • stay out of car park and buildings during break times
  • move quietly through the buildings at all times

 

DRESS CODE POLICY

 

Uniform is to be worn to and from school, while at school and on excursions.
New students are issued with “uniform on order” slip if uniform is not available immediately on purchase.

  1. The School Uniform is:
  2. Polo shirts:  navy blue or white with school logo
  3. White cotton blouse/shirt with school logo
  4. Jacket: navy blue fleece or ¾ zip polar fleece top with school logo
  5. Pants: Navy blue or grey school pants or shorts
  6. Skirts: Navy blue skirt
  7. Shoes: Black lace up shoes; sports shoes for Physical Education
  8. Socks: navy blue or white socks, navy tights
  9. Jewellery: one set of small plain sleepers or studs, a thin chain around the neck, a wrist watch
  10. Headwear: white head scarf

The following are unacceptable:

  1. any make-up including mascara and lipstick
  2. coloured nail polish
  3. jewellery in the nose, lips, tongue, eyebrow and more than one set of earrings or studs.
  4. Bandanas/sweat bands

Consequences if worn : confiscation

  • Non-Compliance
  • Students not in uniform
  • must have an explanation in their diary from a parent/caregiver and will be expected to borrow the suitable item for the day
  • without a note and under 16 will be asked to change, given detention and a letter sent home
  • without a note and over 16 will be automatically sent home with a letter

UNIFORM PRICE LIST (WORD FORMAT)

 

Specific dress requirements for cultural or religious reasons are an acceptable part of the Dress Code.

Parents/caregivers may seek written permission from the Principal for exemption from the Dress Code.

Business hours: 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday during the term
