Intensive English Course Duration

Most students follow the intensive course of study for 40 weeks and progress through 4 main levels of English proficiency.

The Four Levels are :

  • Foundation
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced
  • Transition

Students normally spend 1 school term (10 weeks) in each level.

However, students with higher levels of English proficiency in speaking, reading and writing can study for only 10 or 20 weeks at the Advanced levels of the course.

Classes run from Monday to Friday. The school day begins at 8.50 a.m. and normally ends at 3.10 p.m.

You can choose any week of the year to start the course. After graduating, students will be transferred to a government or private school.

Before graduating students undertake a transition program that helps them transfer to mainstream high schools. A coordinator assists students with their high school visits and transfers. Information evenings are held to provide families with necessary information.

Assessment and Reporting

Students are assessed according to their proficiency in English in the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They are also assessed for the knowledge and skills of each subject.

Reports for parents / care-givers are provided at the end of Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced and Transition. Interviews are held at the end of the student's first term at the school.

Parents / care-givers are welcome to make appointments to discuss the student progress at any time during the term.

"Students, staff and parents feel valued and supported" (ECIS Statement)
